Fox

Vermilion streak

Passes through the trees,

Scampering over leaves and twigs

Small paws patter on the forest floor

Crickets voices chime the hour,

The hour of sunset

Twisting through various trees,

Following the secret animal path

Sun is slowly sinking

Sky turns blue and fades to charcoal grey

As the small red fox reaches his hidden den

Underneath a hollow tree’s roots

He curls up among the leaves and strands of spider webs

And is visited by sleep.
