Song of the Crickets

Day’s curtain is drawn

And all shadows, short and long

disappear.

Deep purple slowly falls

Echoing like empty halls

down, down, down.

Nocturne animals peep out of their homes.

They realize that night’s alone,

they come to join her.

A lonely cricket

Hums from a thicket

of trees.

Soon a small chorus sings,

Which in turn brings

more crickets.

Song reaches the moon

Makes ripples in the blue lagoon

and then

An orchestra pipes their song

All night long.
